Shenmue I & II (2018)

Shenmue (1999) and Shenmue 2 (2001) seemed like science fiction at one time. A 24-hour cycle in an open world, changing weather, hundreds of voiced NPCs are in 3D and with motion capture.

British d3t, with Sega’s approval, resurrected the legendary action games. It adapted the control scheme to the usual two sticks, rejuvenated the interface, added a choice between Japanese and English voice acting, and 16:9 support.

The story of a high school boy chasing his father’s killer continued in Shenmue 3 (2019). The hero explores provincial China.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection (2015)

Three releases of Uncharted became available on the PS3 in 2007, 2009, and 2011. Through them, Naughty Dog made its way to the big leagues and honed its skill at creating incredibly entertaining games with a no-nonsense story.

Bluepoint Games has brought shooters to the PS4. They tightened up the textures and corrected the models, increased the range of drawing, and played with the lighting. The games give a picture in 1080p at 60 fps.

Grim Fandango Remastered (2015)

Grim Fandango (1998) tells the story of the Land of the Dead and a glib travel agent. This point & click adventure game is overflowing with jokes and is inspired by Aztec lore and film noir. While the game’s puzzles, the original setting and ingenious script save the day.

At LucasArts, Tim Schaefer was working on Grim Fandango. When he left the company, he founded his own Double Fine studio. That’s where Schaefer prepared Grim Fandango Remastered.

Beyond Good & Evil HD (2011)

Beyond Good & Evil, an action-adventure mix, surprised the world in 2003. It didn’t sell well but gathered a strong community of loyal fans around it, much like Shenmue.

The events in BGE take place on one distant, faraway planet that is plagued by aliens. A military dictatorship arises on the planet. Jade, a nimble Resistance fighter and a patient photographer, is trying to deal with it. The game contains many puzzles and stealth sections, and the chases are cinematic. In the re-release, Ubisoft has shaken the dust off the textures and character models.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 (2020)

The compilation includes two trick arcade games featuring Tony Hawk and other legendary skaters from the turn of the century. New athletes have also found a place in the re-release.

Vicarious Visions is responsible for the remasters. They also retrieved from the closet and cleaned up the old Crash in Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy.

In Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, the soundtrack is expanded, there are more options when customizing the skate park and athlete, the trials are more diverse, and there is online multiplayer.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection (2014)

Halo: The Master Chief Collection contains Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo 4. The compilation recently became available on PC as well. Now the only thing missing on PCs for the full picture is Halo 5.

Now you can play the games in 4K at 60 fps. You can get support for ultra-wide screens. You can adjust the field of view and adjust the control on the mouse and keyboard.

Microsoft has added the PC version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection to its Xbox Game Pass subscription service. More than 10 million users have tried the collection by subscription.

Redmond Corporation is going to stick to platform equality in Halo Infinite. For example, they have promised a transfer of preserves between PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series, and cross-platform multiplayer.

The Yakuza Remastered Collection (2019)

Sega revived the first two parts of Yakuza as remakes and collected issues three through five in The Yakuza Remastered Collection. The main change is striking – the resolution has grown from 720p to 1080p, the frame rate – from 30 to 60 fps.

The games in the series tell the story of the noble bandit Kazuma Kiryu. The gameplay combines fights with active use of surrounding objects (from a golf club to a motorcycle), humorous mini-games and original quests.

Blood: Fresh Supply (2019)

Blood: Fresh Supply is a remaster of the 1997 shooter Blood. Nightdive Studios main goal was compatibility with modern operating systems, and at the same time, it took care of anti-aliasing, unlocked the frame rate, and implemented the extended mods support.

Nightdive specializes in resurrecting classics. Thanks to them, System Shock: Enhanced Edition, Forsaken Remastered, Shadow Man: Remastered, and re-releases of other great games have appeared.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe (2020)

The remaster and the original are seven years apart. That’s long enough for Nintendo to realize that Pikmin 3 was too difficult for unprepared audiences. The first parts were released in the 2000s and everyone had forgotten about them.

In the end, the Deluxe Edition was easier to play. Of course, Nintendo added a choice of difficulty levels! Extra missions from Pikmin 1 and 2, revised controls, the possibility to overcome the storyline with a friend, and achievements are also supposed to cheer up and diversify the gaming process.
