AQUALIN

OBJECTIVE OF AQUALIN: The objective of Aqualin is to be the player with the largest school of fish, accumulating the most points, by the time the game comes to an end.

NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 2 Players

MATERIALS: 1 Game Board, 36 Sea Creature Acrylic Tiles, and Directions

TYPE OF GAME: Set Collection Board Game

AUDIENCE: Ages 10 and Up

OVERVIEW OF AQUALIN

Turmoil is occurring all throughout the reef as the sea animals begin to form swarms again and again. During their turn, a player will choose one of their six stones to place on an empty field. The players attempt to make matching groups of sea creatures, building their swarm. The player with the largest group wins the game!

SETUP

To begin setup, place the gameboard in the middle of the playing area. All of the sea creatures should be facing down, shuffled, and placed beside the board, forming the draw pile. Six tiles are randomly chosen from the draw pile and placed faceup on the game board, creating the players’ drafting pools.

The players will then determine which one of them is gathering by color and which is gathering by type. This determines how the players will accumulate points when the game comes to an end. The game is then ready to begin!

GAMEPLAY

Gameplay consists of each player taking their turn and then allowing their opponent to take their turn. During a turn, a player will move a creature, place a new one, and replenish their drafting pool. In order to move a creature, the player may choose any creature that is on the board. It may be moved any number of spaces inside of its row or column.

Once they have moved a creature, the player may then place a new creature. They will choose one from the drafting pool and place it on any of the unoccupied spaces found on the board. There are no stipulations to where a player can place a creature, as long as it is on an unoccupied space. Before their turn comes to an end, the player will collect a creature from the draw pile and place it in the drafting pool.

The other player will take their turn. The game will continue in this manner until the entire board has been filled with creatures. The school assessment will then take place. All schools of the same color are counted first, and then all of the schools that have matching colors will be scored.

END OF GAME

The game comes to an end when the drafting pool is emptied. At this point, the players will tally their score from their school of fish. The player with the most points will become the winner!
