PROPHECY

OBJECTIVE OF PROPHECY: The objective of Prophecy is to be the first player to acquire a certificate from the five guilds before any other player. 

NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 2 to 5 Players 

MATERIALS: 1 Gameboard, 211 Playing Cards, 25 Small Gold Tokens, 10 Large Gold Tokens, 25 Small Experience Tokens, 10 Large Experience Tokens, 5 Stands for Playing Pieces, 10 Playing Pieces, 10 Character Cards, 40 Blue Cubes, 40 Red Cubes, 2 Dice, 5 Summary Cards, and Instructions

AUDIENCE: Ages 12 and Up 

OVERVIEW OF PROPHECY 

The players represent different fantasy characters that travel throughout a land that is full of adventure, attempting to collect ancient artifacts from their enemies. Demons will be guarding the artifacts. Players use a variety of means to transport through the land. Each character has their own skills and abilities, allowing them to have the upper hand on some of their enemies. 

SETUP 

There are two pieces to setup when beginning the game, the board and the players. In order to setup the board, begin by placing it in the middle of the playing area. Divide all of the cards into different decks, depending on their backs, shuffling each one, and placing them onto their assigned space on the board. Depending on the type of game played, some cards may have to be removed.  

The decks of common items and rare items are shuffled and placed on the corners of the game board that they are assigned to. The ability cards are then divided into five decks, depending on the pictures found on the back, and place them in their assigned space found near the middle of the board.  

To begin character setup, deal one card to each player. They will place their card in front of them, noting the strength and willpower. The players will then place an equal number of red cubes on the right side of their character as their strength, and blue cubes that indicate their willpower on the right too. 

 The red cubes will represent the players’ health throughout the game, and they will be switched to the left side when they lose health. The blue cubes will represent the players’ magic. The players will collect three small yellow tokens, three small green tokens, and their playing piece. The game is then ready to begin.  

GAMEPLAY 

The player who rolls the highest dice will begin the game. During a round, the players will draw a chance card, read it aloud to the group, and complete the task that is found on it. They will then fight ant enemies that are found on the space that they land on. When they are complete, the next player will begin their turn.  

After the player takes their chance card and reads it aloud, they can move their character. When moving, they are permitted to move one space to the left or the right, but they have the opportunity to move two spaces if they are willing to pay one gold piece. Once the player lands on a new space, they may encounter a creature card or an opportunity card, which will always take effect when the player lands on the space.  

If a player has a creature take effect, they may battle them in a battle of strength or a battle of wills. If the creature only has strength or will, then that is how the player must battle them. The player will roll both dice, with the light one representing them, and the darker one representing the creature. The number on their die is added to their strength or will, and whoever has the highest wins.  

The players may accumulate experience and gold throughout the game. When a player lands on a guild space, they may purchase a certificate with five experience points and five gold pieces. If the character belongs to that specific guild, then the player does not have to pay gold, only experience points.  

END OF GAME 

The game comes to an end when a player collects a certificate from each of the five guilds. This includes the Monastery, the Magic Tower, the Thieves’ Guild, the Forest Camp, and the Fortress. The first player to complete this task wins the game!
