These St. Patrick’s Day games and activities for kids range from active races to calmer guessing games, making it easy to mix and match based on your needs and their wants. 1. LEPRECHAUN TREASURE HUNT
A treasure hunt or scavenger hunt is always a crowd favorite, no matter the age and size of the group. The best part? This St. Patrick’s Day version is super easy to customize. Simply hide gold coins, green treats, or small prizes around the room or yard. Then, give kids clue cards that lead them from one hiding spot to the next until they find the final treasure! We know you’re probably already familiar with Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Well, this is a festive St. Patrick’s Day twist on the classic classroom game. To play, hang a picture of a leprechaun on the wall and cut out several paper hats. Blindfold players one at a time, spin them gently, and have them try to pin the hat on the leprechaun’s head. Once everyone has had a turn, the player whose hat is closest to the correct spot wins!
3. RAINBOW RING TOSS
To play this St. Patrick’s Day game for kids, set up bottles or cones painted in rainbow colors to match the mood. Then, give each player a few rings and have them toss from a marked distance. You can assign point values to each color or simply count how many rings land on a target, depending on the age group of the kids. Adjust the distance to make the game easier or harder, depending on the age group as well.
4. GOLD COIN SPOON RACE
This St. Patrick’s Day game is a simple variation of the classic egg-and-spoon race kids will often play at a kids field day. Give each player a spoon and a gold coin, then line everyone up at the starting line. Players race to the finish while balancing the coin on their spoon. If the coin drops, they must stop and place it back on the spoon before they continue the race. The first player to cross the finish line wins the race!

6. ST. PADDY’S MUSICAL CHAIRS
Musical chairs is always a hit, whether that’s at birthday parties or indoor parties, so why not play this game at St. Patrick’s Day as well? To play, ideally, use green chairs or decorate them with shamrocks, and play Irish music while kids walk around the circle. Make sure there is one less chair than there are players. When the music stops, everyone must find a seat. Remove one chair each round until only one player remains. Keep in mind this game is best for medium to large groups!
7. GUESS HOW MANY GOLD COINS
This is a super easy and calm activity that works well as a break between other games. Simply fill a clear jar with gold coins and place it on a table. Have each child write down or say their guess for how many coins are inside. Once everyone has guessed, count the coins together. The child with the closest guess wins!
