Showdown games are played where each player has a hand of cards. Players may be given the opportunity to improve these hands in some way. Then all hands are exposed and compared. According to some criteria set up by the game, a winner will be declared from these hands.
These types of games can be even further classified into smaller groups including:
- Partition Games: These Games require players to separate their cards into two hands, these are then all compared.
- Vying Games: These games allow for players to increase the winning conditions, by either increasing a bet or other means. Other players may drop out and then all remaining players compare hands.
- Banking Games: These games require players to compare hands to a banker’s hand instead of each other’s hands.
