INTRODUCTION TO ALL FIVES
All Fives is a trick-taking card game that is a variant of All Fours. All Fives is a card and domino game. You can find the rules to All Fives for dominoes here.
THE DEAL & TRUMPS
Players are dealt six cards each in groups of three. Once players have a full hand the deck is set to the side. The top card of the deck is flipped over to reveal a potential trump.
The player directly to the left of the dealer decides the trump suit. They may either accept the trump on top of the deck or request a new one. If the dealer does not honor that request, that player receives one point, and play begins. A dealer may offer up a new trump by removing the current one, dealing each player another three cards, and turning over a new trump card. This system can continue until the new trump is agreed on.
THE PLAY
Play starts with the player directly to the dealer’s left. Each player plays exactly one card, following suit if possible. The highest ranking card of the lead suit wins the trick. If you are unable to follow suit, you may play any card or play trumps. A trump card is a high ranking card from the trump suit. The highest ranking card from the trump suit wins any trick. The winner of the previous trick leads in the next.
Gameplay continues until all cards in hand have been played, or all tricks taken.
SCORING
Score trumps played and tricks won.
Trumps:
Jack = 1 point
Queen = 2 points
King = 3 points
Ace = 4 points
Five = 5 points
Ten = 10 points
The game is won by being the first player to score 60+ points. If two players happen to hit 60 points in the same round, the player with the highest score wins.
