OVERVIEW OF TRES Y DOS

Tres y Dos is a simple card game that allows for many players. Each player is trying to build a specific five card hand. The hand will consist of three cards that are the same rank and two additional cards that are also of the same rank. Players take turns drawing and discarding cards with the hopes of finding the cards that they need!

SETUP

Firstly, the seating order and assignment of the first dealer must be determined. This is done by drawing for the highest card. Players will each draw a card from the shuffled deck. The player who draws the highest card will become the first dealer and choose their seat before the others. The player who draws the lowest card will choose their seat last.

The dealer will then gather the cards and shuffle the deck, allowing the player on their left to cu the deck. They will then deal each player five cards, rotating counterclockwise around the group. The rest of the deck is placed in the middle of the table, creating the stockpile. The dealer will reveal the top card, laying it beside the stockpile, creating the discard pile.

GAMEPLAY

The player to the right of the dealer will take the first turn, and gameplay will continue counterclockwise around the group. During a turn, a player completes a couple different actions.

To begin, the player will draw a card, choosing the top card on the discard pile or the top card on the stockpile. The player will then choose a card to discard from their hand, placing it face up on the discard pile. If a player takes the top card from the discard pile, they are unable to discard it during the same turn.

Gameplay continues in this manner until a player has created their Tres Y Dos. This hand consists of three cards that are of the same rank along with two other cards that are of the same rank. The player will then reveal their hand to the other players, placing it on the table facing up.

If the stockpile empties before the game is done, the discard pile may be taken, shuffled, and placed as the new stockpile. The top card of the discard pile is left.

END OF GAME

The game comes to an end when a player announces that they have formed their Tres Y Dos. The first player to do this becomes the winner!
