OVERVIEW OF I’M GOING ON A TRIP…

i'm going on a trip suitcase

I’m Going On A Trip… is a fun memory game that will trip up even the most practiced players. Although the premise of this great game is simple, this game can become super complicated and confusing the longer the round goes on.

GAMEPLAY

Every player must add to a growing list of items that will be taken on a trip. To start the game, the first player says, “I’m going on a trip, and I’m going to bring…” and finishes the sentence by adding an item they will bring.

So, for example, the first person might say, “I’m going on a trip, and I’m going to bring a tent.” The next person then mimics what the first person said but adds an additional item to the item list by saying, “I’m going on a trip, and I’m going to bring a tent and a pair of shoes.” The third person continues by adding a third item, this process continues.

The game continues and the list of items keeps growing as each player takes turns adding to the list.

END OF GAME

The game ends when a player messes up and is unable to correctly list all of the objects in the proper order.

VARIATIONS

To make the game more challenging you may change up the sentence structure, add requirements for the items listed, or even add a secret rule.

When changing up the sentence structure you may say something like, “I’m going on a camping trip, and I need to pack…” or “I’m going on a trip, and I should invite…”

When you want to change the requirements for adding items to the list, you could add additions such as, the first letter of the item has to be the same letter as the last letter of the previous item, all words must have double letters, or that a certain letter can’t be used.
