OVERVIEW OF KRYT’-NAVALIVAT’
Kryt’-navalivat’ is a beating card game for 2 or more players. The goal of the game is to play out all your cards from hand and to not be the remaining player to not do so. There is no winner in this game, only a loser.
SETUP
First, the deck is modified by removing all cards 5 and lower from the deck. This will leave you with a 36-card deck.
Any player may deal the first round but after that, the loser of each previous round will be the next dealer. The dealer will shuffle the deck giving the player to their let the option to cut the deck. Then each player receives a hand of three cards. The top card of the remaining stock is flipped; this card’s suit will be the trump suit for the round. The remaining cards are staked on this card so that the trump suit remains visible.
Card Ranking
The ranking is traditional with Ace being high followed by King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, and 6 which is the lowest card.
GAMEPLAY
The game begins with the player left of the dealer. The starting player may play any card they wish to start the play pile. Once a play pile has been started a player’s turn will consist of two options. Either a player will play a card to be the top card of the pile, or they will not and have to draw from the play pile.
A player can play to the play pile by beating the top card of the pile. if it’s not a trump a higher card of the same suit or a trump will beat it. If it is a trump a higher trump is needed. If you beat the card on the top of the pile you will play a second card. This card will be what your opponent will need to beat to play to the pile on their turn.
If you cannot or wish not to play to the play pile you will draw cards from the play pile. Only one card is drawn if the top card is not of the trump suit. If it is a trump but not the ace of trumps, three cards are drawn from the play pile. If it is the ace of trumps the whole play pile is drawn. Drawing from the play pile ends a player’s turn and the card remaining on top of the play pile, if there is one, will be the card the next player must beat.
If after your turn you have less than 3 cards you must draw from the stock to 3 cards in hand. The revealed trump card is the last card of the stock and once drawn the game continues without drawing.
If the play pile is ever empty the next player to play will, as at the start of the game, play any card to start the new play pile. This also applies if a player uses their last card to beat the previous card but does not have a second card to play. The next player plays as if starting a new pile on the old.
END OF GAME
As players empty their hands they will drop from the game. The last player to empty their hand is the loser. This is unless they have only one card remaining that beats the top card of the play pile. If they do the game is a draw. The player who dealt last deals again.
