The lack of communication can make the missions much more difficult than you may think.
BEST CARD GAMES FOR COUPLES
While board games can be plenty of fun, card games are just as fun! Plus, the best part is that you don’t have to buy anything extra to play these games—all you need is a deck of cards. So, if you don’t happen to have any board games to play, these card games for couples will keep you entertained all night. We’ve also thrown in some dirty card games and drinking card games, perfect for couples.
SHITHEAD
One of our favorite card games for couples is Shithead. This game may not have the sexiest or nicest name, but it’s one of those card games that you could easily play for hours! While there’s an element of strategy when playing this game, there’s also an element of luck that can really mess up your strategy just as you’re about to win! Just like any standard card-shedding game, the goal is to get rid of your cards first.
THREE THIRTEEN
Our favorite rummy card game for couples is Three Thirteen. To play this game, all you need is a standard deck of cards. This game is sure to last quite a while as there are an incredible 11 rounds you have to play to win! You start the first round with just three cards and try to make melds. Take turns drawing and discarding cards, adding an extra card every round. The player with the fewest points wins the game!
BLACKJACK
If you’re a couple that loves to gamble every now and then, an easy gambling card game you can play is Blackjack. To amp up the stakes, why not bet some real money? Or if you want to play a sexy version of the game, you could even bet some clothes. The objective of this game? Your cards should add up as close to 21 as possible while beating the dealer!
STRIP POKER
Another fun gambling game couples should play is Strip Poker. You play this game as you would any normal game of Poker, but instead of betting chips or money, bet your clothes! The standard Poker variation to play when playing Strip Poker is Five Card Draw. To play, start with five cards each. Then, after the initial betting round, you can discard up to 3 cards and pick up new ones to improve your hand. Then, bet again before the showdown!
HAND AND FOOT
Yet another rummy game we highly recommend for date night is Hand and Foot. But keep in mind that you’ll need five (yes—five!) decks of cards to play this game. Once you have the cards you need, you can play one of the most interesting rummy game variations. To play, you start with 13 cards that make up your “hand” and 13 cards that make up the “foot.” You first play with the hand and create melds, after which you can pick up your foot. Be the first player to get rid of all of your cards!
SEXY GO FISH
Who knew Go Fish could be sexy? Sexy Go Fish is just like your standard Go Fish card game but with a twist. As you might be able to guess, there is both alcohol and stripping involved in this game! Play Go Fish as normal, but drink whenever you have to fish and drink whenever you have to give up a card or cards to the other player. Anytime a player makes a set of 4 cards, the other player must take off a piece of clothing and finish their drink!

HORSERACE
Horserace is yet another drinking and betting card game you should absolutely play with your significant other. Just grab a standard deck of playing cards and your favorite alcoholic beverage to play. To start, place all four aces in a line and place 7 cards across the track that the four aces need to race across to win! Then, before you begin, make bets on which ace you think you’ll win! If you lose, drink the number of drinks you bet!
DOUBLE SOLITAIRE
Did you know that it’s possible to play Solitaire with another person? It kind of defeats the meaning of the word, but if you want to play a competitive version of Solitaire, you can play Double Solitaire. To play this game, you’ll need a deck of cards each, and the two players face each other across the table. Then, start playing Solitaire as you normally would, with the goal of finishing faster than the other! But here’s the catch: Both players can play on any of the 8 foundation piles in the middle!
SPIT
Probably one of the most entertaining card games out there for two people is Spit. In this super fast-paced game, the goal is to get rid of all of your cards. To do that, you’ll need to play the cards in ascending or descending order on 2 central piles. But you’ll have to be fast! The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the game! Spit is honestly one of the more chaotic card games you can play as a couple and is a great bonding exercise.
These are the absolute best card games to play for couples, but if you are looking for even more card games to play, we’ve got you covered with our full list of two player card games!
BEST GAMES FOR COUPLES TO PLAY LONG-DISTANCE
If you and your partner are apart for the moment, don’t worry; we’ve got you covered with some of the best games for couples that you can play over the phone, text, or FaceTime as well.
WOULD YOU RATHER
A simple game you can play with your partner over the phone is Would You Rather. This is a great game to play, especially at the beginning of a relationship when you are starting to get to know each other more and more. In this game of hypotheticals, each player poses a question in the form of: “Would you rather (this) or (that)?” Keep asking and answering one another, and explain your answers when prompted.
HANGMAN
Hangman is a great game to play over text, in person, through Facetime. Everyone should already know how to play this classic game. One player starts by thinking of a random word and drawing enough lines for each letter of the word. Then, the other player starts to guess letters. But careful not to make too many mistakes, otherwise you’ll end up hanging an innocent man!
ONLINE SCRABBLE
A game that you can easily play online with another player is Scrabble. Of course, you don’t need the actual Scrabble board game in order to play this long-distance. Instead, you’ll play Scrabble online. There are many websites and apps you can use to do this. One example is Words with Friends. Once set up, you can start playing the game by placing words down on the tile one by one.
NEVER HAVE I EVER
Never Have I Ever is one of our favorite date night games for newer couples getting to know one another. You can easily play this game via FaceTime if you’re long-distance. This is a great way to uncover some new facts about this special person, but in a fun and comfortable way.
Start this game with 10 fingers up, then take turns saying something you’ve never done. If the other player has done it, however, they must put a finger down. If curious, you can even ask for a storytime of when, why, and how! You can easily turn this into a drinking game by drinking every time you put a finger down.
Here are some Never Have I Ever prompts and questions to ask your partner.
TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE
Another fun drinking game you can play over the phone with your partner is Two Truths and a Lie. This is a classic ice breaker game for newer couples to enjoy. You will need to grind up your creativity gears for this one, so get ready to play and get to know each other! All you need to do is state three facts about yourself, one of which is false. The other player then tries to guess which one is the false one. If a player gets it wrong, they must drink! Keep playing until you run out of creative juice.
TRUTH OR DARE
A pretty scandalous game you should play with your partner over the phone or FaceTime is Truth or Dare. This game is best played with a drink in your hand, as you’ll never know what you’ll be asked to answer or do! Simply take turns asking each other, “Truth or dare?” The other player picks one option and must ask a scandalous question or do a dare. If you refuse, you can take a shot or a drink as punishment!
THIS OR THAT
This or That is a very simple game you can easily play over the phone, via FaceTime, or via text. This is a tame variation of Would You Rather. To play, just take turns asking each other a choice between two options. Examples could be:
- Ice cream or chocolate?
- Black or white?
- Sunrise or sunset?
The other player must then answer which one they prefer and explain their reasoning. This is a great game to really get to know the other person on a deeper level.
ONLINE TIC-TAC-TOE
There are a few different ways to play Tic-Tac-Toe. And yes – we are talking about that childhood classic game that you would play with your friends in class when bored! You can either Google a website or an app you can use to do this. Or, you can DIY the whole thing, and someone can draw up the lines to play Tic-Tac-Toe and be in charge of drawing the
