OVERVIEW OF TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE: DRINKING EDITION

Two Truths And A Lie is a classic ice breaker game that can also be turned into a fun drinking game. This is an entertaining game if you don’t know the people around you very well, so get your creative gears turning, and let’s get started!

SETUP

All you need to set up a game of Two Truths And A Lie is to have everyone sit in a circle with a drink in hand. Then, randomly pick one person to start off the introductions.

GAMEPLAY

The first player introduces themselves with their name, followed by three statements, one of which needs to be false. The objective is to make it hard for others to determine which statements are true and which are false. The statements can be as general or as specific as you’d like. Some players even use three outlandish statements that all seem false as a strategy. The two truths and a lie can be said in any order.

Some examples of statements include:

  • My favorite color is turquoise.
  • I used to play football as a child.
  • I once went to a party hosted by Madonna.
  • I think Beyonce is overrated.
  • I have hooked up with more than two people in one night.

Once the first player has introduced themselves along with their three statements, they must count down from 3. On 1, every player must decide which statement they think is false. They must hold up 1, 2, or 3 fingers, depending on their chosen statement.

The player then announces which of the statements was false. The players that got it wrong must take a sip. If every player guesses correctly, the player introducing themselves must take a sip.

Next, the person to the first player’s left introduces themselves, along with two truths and one lie.

END OF GAME

The game ends when everyone in the circle has introduced themselves.
