TYPE OF GAME: Camping game

AUDIENCE: 5+

OVERVIEW OF PERSONAL PREFERENCES

Personal preferences is a great parlor or camping game. All you need to play this game are some paper, a couple of pens, and some creativity! Expect to laugh out loud and get to know your friends and family more and more.

SETUP

You’ll need 5 slips of paper per player for everyone to write 5 random things on their slips. These random things can range from everything from “bakery” to “the number five” to “Lady Gaga”. The only limit to what you can write is that you should stay away from writing about anybody in the group.

Once everybody has written their 5 things, fold all of the slips in half and pop them into a hat or bowl to be mixed around.

Divide the players into teams of 2 or 3, depending on how many players you have.

GAMEPLAY

Choose a random player from the first team to pick five slips of paper from the hat or bowl. They must read each thing out loud and step away for a couple of minutes to allow the teams to discuss.

Each team must rank these five things in order, guessing how the player would rank all of the items from most to least favorite. When all teams have ranked everything, the player comes back to the group to announce how they would rank all the items from most to least favorite (or vice versa).

1 point is awarded to each team for each correctly ranked guess.

Then a player from the second team gets a turn, and so on until everyone has had a turn and there are no more slips of paper in the hat or bowl.

END OF GAME

The game ends when everyone has had a chance to rank their personal preferences. Each team tallies up its total points. The team with the most points wins the game!
