OVERVIEW OF SPIT IN THE OCEAN
Spit in the Ocean is a poker card game for 3 to 10 players. The object of the game is to make and win bids.
This is a poker game variation, so a general knowledge of how to play poker and poker hands is needed.
There will be a dealer who may or may not play in the round. This is up to the table and the environment the game is being played in.
The dealer will shuffle and deal each player a 4-card hand. then a single card is dealt to the center of the table, face up. The card dealt face up and any cards of the same rank are considered wild for the hand and may be played as any card.
A round of bidding is performed immediately after hands are dealt.
Card and Hand Rankings
Cards are ranked traditionally. Ace (high), King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2 (low).
The traditional ranking of poker hands is used as well.
After the initial bidding round is concluded, each player can now discard and be redealt any number of cards from their hand. (Some play that only 2 cards can be discarded and redealt.)
After the redeals are finished, a second round of bidding starts up. After this round of bidding is ended, the showdown will take place.
The final round of bidding will end and if more than one player remains in the round then a showdown takes place. All remaining players will show their 4-card hand and use these cards plus the central card to make the highest poker hand possible.
The player with the highest hand of the table wins the pot.
END OF GAME
The game does not have a standard end. Players may enter and exit the game between rounds of play.
