The Wiki game is fun to play alone or with friends. Expand on your knowledge by perusing Wikipedia articles while having fun!

All you need to set up for the Wiki game is a computer or a mobile phone. So load up the Wikipedia website, and let’s get started!

Choose a random article to start on Wikipedia. It can be as generic as basketball or as specific as a blue-ringed octopus. Be as creative as you like! If you’re unsure what to pick, you can use WikiRoulette to choose one for you.

Once you’ve determined the starting article, use WikiRoulette to give you a target article. Alternatively, you can pick the target article yourself. If you are selecting one yourself, try to choose a target article that is entirely different from your starting article to make the game more challenging.

For example:

Starting article – Johnny Depp

Target article – Seawater

Now that you have determined the two articles, go to Wikipedia and load up the starting article. The goal of this game is to get the target article with as few clicks as possible. Go down the Wikipedia rabbit hole and click on the blue links to other articles to eventually get to the target article. The maximum degree of separation between any two Wikipedia articles is six clicks, so try to get to the target article within this limit!

An alternative way to play the game is to time yourself as well. Give yourself a minute (or shorter, the better you get at this game) to get to the target article. Use this method if you’re looking for an extra challenge!

The game is over once you reach the target article. Count how many clicks it takes you to get there, and try to get the best score. If you use a timer, try to get the best score within the chosen time limit!
