OVERVIEW OF WHAT TIME IS IT, MR. WOLF?

What time is it, Mr. Wolf? is a classic childhood game that anyone can enjoy – even adults. A fun variation on the simple game of tag, this is a nerve-wracking game that will surely make your heart pump.

SETUP

One person is chosen as Mr. Wolf at the very start of the game. This can be decided by a game of rock, paper, scissors, or another method of your choice.

Mr. Wolf stands at one end of the designated playing area with their back to the rest of the players. The rest of the players stand in a line parallel to the “wolf”, behind the designated safe zone.

GAMEPLAY

At the starting line, the players must chant: “What’s the time, Mr. Wolf?” Mr. Wolf then responds by saying a time. For example, Mr. Wolf can say “It’s 4 o’clock!”

Depending on the time given by Mr. Wolf, the rest of the players must take those number of steps toward Mr. Wolf. So, in this example, each player will take 4 steps forward. Then the players ask once again: “What’s the time, Mr. Wolf?”

Play continues until Mr. Wolf decides to answer the question with: “It’s lunchtime!”

END OF GAME

When Mr. Wolf says “it’s lunchtime”, Mr. Wolf turns around and tries to tag one of the players. The remaining players must try to outrun Mr. Wolf by getting to the safe zone. If a player is tagged, they become the new Mr. Wolf.
