ACCENTUATE

OBJECTIVE OF ACCENTUATE: The objective of Accentuate is to be the first team to earn 15 points.

NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 4 to 12 Players

MATERIALS: 250 Quote Cards, 150 Accent Lists, 4 Rule Cards, 1 Sand Timer, Die, and Instructions

TYPE OF GAME: Party Card Game

AUDIENCE: Ages 12 and Up

OVERVIEW OF ACCENTUATE

Accentuate adds a little spice to a typical card game. One team member will roll a die in order to determine the playing options for the round. Players then draw quotation cards and accent cards, beginning their thirty second timeframe. The players will then take thirty seconds to rea the quote and imitate the accent. The teammates have only one shot to guess the correct accent in order to score points!

SETUP

Players should separate into teams, creating two. Shuffle all of the quote cards and place them in the middle of the playing area. Ensure that they are within each of all players. The accent cards, timer, and die are placed in the middle of the playing area near the quote cards.

Share the accent lists so all players know the accent choices available. The players should gather a pencil and paper to keep score. The game is then ready to begin.

GAMEPLAY

The player who owns the game get to let their team make the first move. The team will choose a speaker, and remember, this will be the first player to speak with an accent. Roll the dice and determine the options for the play.

The player may swap your card if they are unable to do the accent, but they may only do it one time. The player may choose another teammate to take over the role of speaker, forcing them to draw a few card. Finally, the player may just play and complete their quote.

The teammates can scream their guesses to their speaker, but if they cannot answer before the time is over, then no points are scored for the team. The team may earn one point if they guess correctly within the timeframe. The other team will then begin their chance when the timer ends.

Gameplay continues in this manner until a team accumulates 15 points.

END OF GAME

The game comes to an end when a team earns 15 points. This team is declared the winners! They will declare their win in their favorite accent, after all, they have earned it.
