NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 2 to 4 Players

MATERIALS: 1 Game Board, 16 Guard Figures, 1 Alexander Figure, 4 Scoring Discs, 55 Game Cards, 10 Red Boundary Walls, 65 Black Boundary Walls, and Instructions

TYPE OF GAME: Hand Management Board Game

AUDIENCE: Ages 12 and Up

OVERVIEW OF ALEXANDROS

Throughout the game, players will attempt to build the greatest army of all time, attempting to surpass Alexander the Great. Players can take over provinces, earning more points, and expanding their territory. By using a variety of cards, the players are able to complete actions to further their cause! Who will build the greatest empire of all time?

SETUP

To begin setup, each player will choose a color to represent them throughout the course of the game, collecting four cards and a scoring disc that match their chosen color. Each player will then place their scoring disk at the start of the scoring track. The Alexander figure is placed on the first space of the top left corner of the board. The black and red walls are placed beside the board, separated by color.

The cards are then shuffled, with one being dealt face down to every player. Two cards are placed face up beside the bottom of the board. The rest of the cards will form the card supply, and they will be placed face down beside the board. The first player is randomly chosen, and the game is ready to begin!

GAMEPLAY

The game is played over the course of player turns, rotating clockwise around the group, beginning with the first player. During their turn, the player will move the Alexander piece and take two actions of their choice. Moving Alexander is a crucial piece to the player’s move.

The player will choose one of the two cards found in the center of the board, and they will then move Alexander to the closest unoccupied triangle that contains a matching symbol. When they move Alexander, the players will attempt to reach a variety of different goals depending on their current situation. The card that they chose is then added to their hand, and a newly drawn card is used to replace it.

The player will then place black boundary walls between Alexander and his previous position on the board, and only the red walls are used on the final turn. Once they have placed Alexander, the players may choose two of the following actions to complete: take back a guard, levy taxes, occupy an empty province or overtake an opponent’s, or take a card. Once the player has completed their chosen actions, the next player will take their turn.

The players should ensure that they pay attention for signs of the game’s end. Gameplay will continue in this manner until the end of the game has been reached!

END OF GAME

The game comes to an end if there are not enough black boundary walls to mark their path. The player may then use red walls to complete their move and their two actions, marking the end of the game. On the other hand, the game may also come to an end if a player has earned at least 100 points.

In either case, the player with the most points, wins the game!
