OVERVIEW OF EGG CARTON SHAKE UP

Egg Carton Shake Up is an active, hectic game that includes upcycling and mathematics. Crazy, right? This game allows players to practice their multiplication skills in an environment that is low stress, while also pressuring them to get finished as quickly as possible. The faster you go, the more likely you are to win! Get to shaking those egg cartons!

SETUP

To setup for the game, collect on egg carton for each player, along with one to two dice depending on players’ ability level. If the players are more comfortable with their multiplication tables, they will use two dice, but if they are learning, one die will suffice. If players are just getting introduced to multiplication, they may use a coin, allowing it to only represent one number on heads and another number on tails.

At the bottom of each part of the egg carton write numbers one through twelve. Once each egg carton is labeled, and each player has their required tools, the game is ready to begin.

GAMEPLAY

During gameplay, the players will complete their problems simultaneously. The trick is that the players must get the attention of the mediator to check their work before they are able to move on to the next one. The players will place their dice inside the egg carton, shaking it for as long as they wish.

Once they have finished shaking it, the players will open it and complete the multiplication problem that they are presented with. They will multiply the number on the egg carton compartment that the die is found in and the number that is on the die. The players must continue to play in this manner until all of the numbers have been used at least once.

END OF GAME

The game comes to an end when one player has used all of their numbers at least once. This player is then determined to be the winner!
