OVERVIEW OF FREEZE TAG

If you want to play a spin on the traditional game of tag, try freeze tag! This game is sure to tire everyone out with a bit of exercise. Involving running, dodging, tagging, and more, freeze tag is an excellent addition to any field day or other outdoor event.

SETUP

Depending on how many total players there are, choose 1-3 players as “it”. If there are fewer than 10 players, 1 “it” should suffice, and if there are 10-20 players, add another player as “it”, and if there are 20 or more, add a 3rd “it”.  Then, set a timer for a designated time, generally around 5 minutes.

GAMEPLAY

When the game begins, the players that are “it” must try to “freeze” the other players by tagging them. When tagging players, the players that are “it” must yell, “Freeze!” Subsequently, the players that are tagged must freeze in place. Encourage players to freeze is funny positions to make the game even more entertaining!

The other players must dodge and run away from the players that are “it” to avoid getting frozen. They can also un-freeze the already-frozen players. To do so, they must tag them and yell, “Unfreeze!”

END OF GAME

The game can end in one of two ways:

  1. The players that are “it” manage to freeze everyone.
  2. The designated time has passed.
