OVERVIEW OF LAMARCKIAN POKER

Lamarckian Poker is an interesting game where all players make moves simultaneously. The players attempt to create the best poker hand given four cards in the center of the playing area. Players do this by simultaneously swapping cards from the center and adding cards of their own. The player with the best hand by the end of the game, wins!

SETUP

Firstly, the players choose a dealer. The dealer will shuffle the deck and deal out four cards to each player. The dealer will then deal four cards face up to the center of the table. Each player must then choose a card from their hand that they will use to collect cards from the center when they are presented. The game is ready to begin.

GAMEPLAY

Beginning with the high card, the players take turns claiming cards from the table. Players are able to collect all cards that match the rank and suit of the card that they chose to play; however, they must leave the card they used in the middle of the table, allowing it to be stolen by another player.

The cards collected go immediately into the players’ hands. It is possible to earn no cards by playing a card that matches no cards on the table. This allows a player to get rid of a card from their hand easily.

If a player has no cards in their hand, then they must remove themselves from the game. After all of the players have taken a turn, the table is cleared and four new cards are added to the center. When the deck has been exhausted, the game comes to an end.

END OF GAME

The game comes to an end when all the cards in the deck have been used. The player with the best scoring poker hand, wins the game!
