OVERVIEW OF MARCO POLO

Marco Polo is a form of tag that is placed in a swimming pool. This game is perfect for any age group, as long as swimming is comfortable for everyone! As Marco attempts to find all of the Polos, the Polos will swim away as fast as they can, ensuring that they do not leave the pool. If you’re touched, then you’re It, so avoid it the best you can.

SETUP

Setup for this game is quick and simple. All the players have to do to get ready to play is to get in the pool and choose the first player. The game is then ready to begin!

GAMEPLAY

To begin the game, all players will start in the center of the pool. When they have determined who will be It, that player will close their eyes and count to ten. As they are counting, the other players will attempt to get as far away as possible without getting out of the pool.

The player who is It will keep their eyes closed and call out “Marco?”. All other players must respond by yelling “Polo!”. The only time a player does not have to respond is if they are underwater at the time, but they are not allowed to go under water when “Marco” is called.

When Marco tags someone, that player becomes It. The game continues in this manner until the players decide to end it.

END OF GAME

The game comes to an end whenever the players choose to end the game. Winners can be ranked in who had the least number of turns being Marco. These are the players that avoided being tagged the most.
