OVERVIEW OF PANGUINGUE

Panguingue is a fun, Rummy like game. Up to fifteen players are able to participate, making it the perfect game for larger gatherings! Standard cards and some scoring chips are the only materials needed to make this game as fun as it can be. This game is a staple in gambling halls. Are you ready for a little gambling? Test your luck, and see for yourself!

SETUP

To begin setup, a dealer is chosen. To do this, a player will shuffle the deck, and every player will draw a card. Whoever draws the lowest card will be the first dealer. To receive ten cards, payers must ante one chip. The rest of the deck is put on the table, facedown, forming the stock. The game is ready to begin!

GAMEPLAY

Before each hand, players will have a change to say whether or not they are going to play the hand. If someone decides not to play a hand, they must pay two chips, which will go to the winner of the hand. Each active player will then draw one card.

If the player draws a card from the stock, they may use it how they wish, either in a meld or discarded. If they draw the top card from the discard pile, then it must meld right away. A drawn card is never placed in the hand, it is melded or discarded. Players may meld as many cards as they like during their turn. They will end their turn by discarding one card.

The objective of a hand is to meld, or laydown, all of the cards in your hand and the final card that is drawn. Melds may consist of sets or sequences. A set is made up of at least three cards that are ranked the same, either of the same suit or from all differing suits. Aces and Kings are able to form sets no matter the suit. Sequences are made up of at least three cards that are in consecutive order and of the same suit.

Some sets or sequences are defined as “conditions” and these result in chips earned from other players. Threes, fives, and sevens are considered valle cards. A set of these cards, with non-matching suits will earn the player one chip from the other players. A set of these cards of the same suit will earn the player two chips from the other players, and for spades, four chips.

A set of cards that are not valle, but are of a matching suit will earn the player one chip from each player, and two chips if they are of spades. Players may collect one chip from each player if they play a sequence that begins with an ace or ends with a King.

The first player to meld all eleven cards wins the hand and earns one chip from each player, the chips paid in by passing players, and will begin the next deal.

END OF GAME

The hand comes to an end when a player has laid down all of their cards, including the last one drawn. After each hand, points are determined. After the agreed number of hands are played, all of the points are tallied together. The player with the most points is declared the winner!
