9 BEST GAMES TO PLAY AT YOUR GENDER REVEAL

Gender reveal parties have become more and more popular over the years. They can be a fun way to announce the sex of your baby to your friends and family. Or you can even have someone else organize the party for you so that you find out the sex at the party too. The different ways to do a gender reveal have become popularized through social media – popping a balloon, cake pops, or even a game of tic tac toe. But no gender reveal party is complete without its share of games to get everyone riled up before the actual reveal!

Here’s a list of the top 10 games to play at your gender reveal to get everyone excited for the baby!

DON’T SAY BOY OR GIRL

Don’t Say Boy or Girl is the best taboo game to play throughout your gender reveal party. At a gender reveal, it’s going to be super hard to avoid saying the two forbidden words: boy and girl!

WHAT YOU NEED

  • 1 diaper clothespin per guest
  • Prize for the winner

HOW TO PLAY

Before your guests arrive, make diaper clothespins by simply taping a picture of a diaper onto a clothespin. Give each guest one diaper clothespin to put on. When every guest has arrived, let everyone know that no one is allowed to say the words “boy” or “girl” for the duration of the party or until a specified time (such as when the gender is revealed).

Whenever someone slips up and says “boy” or “girl,” the person who hears it can steal the rulebreaker’s diaper clothespin. The person that collects the most pins by the end of the game wins the game and the prize!

DIAPER FASHION SHOW

Diaper Fashion Show is another great game to break the ice and get the party rolling. Your guests will get to know each other in the most familiar way possible – by putting on a diaper!

WHAT YOU NEED

  • One roll of toilet paper per team
  • Timer

HOW TO PLAY

Divide the group into two teams, depending on who thinks the baby will be a boy and who believes the baby will be a girl. Give each team a toilet paper roll and set the timer to 3 minutes. Each team must designate a person to be their model for the diaper. When the timer starts, the other team members must dress the model in a diaper, using the toilet paper roll. Expect excited screams from your guests as they try to deal with such a delicate instrument and dress a full-grown adult in a diaper!

When the timer is up, the models line up and do a fashion show. The expectant mom chooses the best diaper, and the team that created the best diaper wins the game!

JUICE PONG

Juice Pong is a gender reveal party equivalent to Beer Pong. Since mom can’t drink, in solidarity, put juice into the cups instead of beers – but still have the same amount of fun!

WHAT YOU NEED

  • 20 solo cups
  • 2 ping pong balls
  • 1 long table

HOW TO PLAY

Set up 10 solo cups in a triangle formation on each end of the table. Divide a group of four into two teams: team pink and team blue. Ask the four players to choose a team based on their guesses of what they think the baby’s sex is.

The game’s objective is to get the ping pong ball into the opposing team’s cups. The first player of the first team throws the ball and tries to get it into a cup on the other side of the table. Then the second player of the first team throws the second ball. If either of the balls land in a cup, the opposing team must drink that cup and remove the empty cup from the triangle. Then, the opposing team gets a turn. Alternate turns until one team manages to clear the other team’s cups.

BABY GENDER LOTTERY

Turn a guessing game into a lottery. Your guests will have fun with the Baby Gender Ballot and Lottery game, and there’s also a chance to win a cash prize at the end!

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Pink bucket
  • Blue bucket
  • Slips of paper
  • Pen

HOW TO PLAY

Before the party, ask your guests to bring some cash to buy into the lottery. When your guests arrive, ask them to cast their name into a pink or blue bucket, depending on what they believe the gender of the baby to be. With their vote, they must add their cash to the win pile.

When the baby’s gender is revealed at the party, pick a random name from the appropriate bucket. The person whose name is drawn from the winning bucket takes the money pile home!

BABY NAME RACE

Baby Name Race is a fun game that will turn everyone’s creative gears. If you still haven’t come up with a baby name, this is a great way to get some ideas flowing too.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Paper
  • Pens
  • Timer

HOW TO PLAY

Give each player a piece of paper and a pen. Set the timer for 9 minutes (for the 9 months the baby is in the womb), and get everyone to start writing baby names on the paper. The one rule of the game is to write the names in alphabetical order, starting from a name that starts with A all the way to Z. After Z, the player must start again from A.

The objective of the game is to write as many names as possible, starting from A to Z, and then again from the top. The player with the most names after the 9 minutes wins the game!

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Large printout or drawing of mom
  • Drawing of baby with thumbtack attached per player
  • Blindfold

HOW TO PLAY

Print out or draw a picture of mom and stick it up on a wall. Then blindfold the first player, spin them ten times, and get them to stick up a drawing of a baby onto the mom. The objective is to aim to stick it on her stomach. Each player gets a turn to try to stick the baby on the mom’s stomach. The player with the baby that is best placed on mom’s tummy wins the game!

CHUG THE BABY BOTTLE

Chug The Baby Bottle is a game that is sure to get all of your guests to bring out their competitive sides. You can play this game with beer, but if you want to keep the party alcohol-free, feel free to fill up the bottles with something fizzy for a little challenge!

WHAT YOU NEED

  • 1 baby bottle per player
  • Beer/fizzy drink

HOW TO PLAY

Fill up all baby bottles with beer or a fizzy drink and get all players to grab one. At the mark, all players grab a baby bottle from the table and start to chug it. The player that finishes their bottle first wins the game!

DIAPER CHANGE RELAY RACE

If you want to get your guests’ hearts pumping, a game of Diaper Change Relay Race is a sure way to get everyone to have some fun. By the end, everyone will definitely be laughing and the sheer ridiculousness of the game!

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Diapers
  • Baby wipes
  • Baby jumpsuits
  • Plush animals

HOW TO PLAY

Divide the group into teams. For a gender reveal twist, divide the teams into pink or blue, depending on what each player thinks the baby will be. But make sure the teams are equal in number. Next, put two sets of baby changing equipment on a table and get the teams to queue up in a line.

When the game begins, the first player from each team approaches the table and changes the baby (plush animal). They must undress the baby, remove the existing diaper, wipe the baby, put a new diaper on, and dress the baby again. When done, the second player must do the same. The game continues until everyone in one team has successfully changed the baby. The first team to finish wins the game!
