NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 1 player
NUMBER OF CARDS: 52 cards
RANK OF CARDS: (low) Ace – King (high)
TYPE OF GAME: Solitaire
THE CARDS & THE LAYOUT
Fortune’s Favor uses a standard 52 card French deck. Begin the layout by removing the four Aces and placing them face up in a row. These cards begin your foundation piles. Foundations will be built up in ascending order according to suit.
Shuffle the remaining cards and deal out two rows of six cards face up. This is your tableau. The rest of the cards make the draw pile.
Each card in the tableau is the beginning of a pile. Tableau piles are built in descending order according to suit. The top card of each tableau pile is able to be moved to another tableau or foundation pile.
Begin the game by scanning the tableau for cards that can be moved to the foundation piles. Any gaps formed in the tableau are filled with cards from the draw pile. When there are no longer any plays to be made, begin drawing cards from the draw pile.
After drawing a card, place it on an eligible tableau or foundation pile. If it cannot be played, place it face up on the waste pile. The top card of the waste pile is always eligible for play. Cards cannot be moved from the foundation to the tableau. Once a card has been placed on a foundation pile, it must remain there.
Continue playing until the game is won or blocked. If the draw pile runs out of cards, and no more plays can be made, the game is blocked.
Win by getting all of the cards onto their foundation piles in ascending order according to suit.
