INTRODUCTION OF PATRIARCHS

Patriarchs is a two deck solitaire game that begins with eight foundation piles and a nine card reserve.  Players must play cards from the draw and waste pile to foundations.  Once the foundations have been built, the game is won!

THE CARDS & THE DEAL

Patriarchs uses two 52 card decks.  Remove one King and one Ace of each suit.  Create a column of four Aces on the left and one column of Kings on the right.  Between the two deal out a 3×3 grid of cards face side up to create the reserve.  The rest of the cards are the draw pile for the game.

THE PLAY

Ace foundation piles are built in ascending order and must follow suit.  King foundation piles are to descend by suit.  If two of the same suited foundation piles ever meet, one of the piles may be scooped and added to the other foundation. The original Ace or King must remain behind.

Reserve cards are eligible for play onto the foundations only.  If a reserve space is formed, it must be filled immediately with a card from the waste pile.  If there is no waste pile, the space must be filled with the top card from the draw pile.

Take the top draw pile card and play it to one of the foundations if possible.  If the card is unplayable, put it on top of the waste pile.  The top waste pile card is always eligible for placement on a foundation pile.

If the player works through the entire draw pile, and the game is not won, one redeal is allowed.  Flip the waste pile over and begin again.

WINNING

The player wins the game when all eight foundations are completed.
