OVERVIEW OF SUDOKU

Sudoku is a classic puzzle game that anyone can play with just a pen or pencil. A thinking game, sudoku can be frustrating but incredibly rewarding when you finish a puzzle. The more you play, the better you will become at solving these puzzles.

SETUP

Sudoku puzzles already come pre-set up and ready to start. A sudoku puzzle comprises a 9×9 grid with smaller 3×3 sub-grids. There will be some pre-filled numbers to get you started. The more complex the puzzle, the fewer “clues” to get the puzzle going.

GAMEPLAY

The rules of sudoku are pretty easy to understand but challenging to follow.

  1. Every square must have one number between 1-9
  2. Each 3×3 box must have all numbers between 1-9 with no repetitions
  3. Each horizontal line must have all numbers between 1-9 with no repetitions
  4. Each vertical line must have all numbers between 1-9 with no repetitions

Once you know the rules, you can start playing. The first thing to do is to find the squares that can only be one number. Use the process of elimination and check what numbers have already been filled in the sub-grid, row, or column to determine what numbers can go in certain boxes. Fill in the boxes one by one until the entire puzzle is finished.

END OF GAME

You have completed the puzzle once all squares are filled, and there are no repetitions in any 3×3 grid, row, or column.
