INTRODUCTION OF SULTAN

Sultan is a two deck solitaire card game that challenges players to build eight different foundations according to suit.  This game is unique in that seven of the foundations begin with Kings and are built up through to the Queen.  The eighth foundation begins with the Ace of Hearts, and it is built up to the Queen of Hearts.  The King of Hearts sits centered in the foundation area and is left alone.  When the game is beaten, the King of Hearts will be completely surrounded by all of the Queens.

THE CARDS & THE DEAL

 To play Sultan, you will need two 52 card decks.  From the decks, remove all eight Kings and the Ace of Hearts.  Place the King of Hearts in the center of the foundation area, the Ace of Hearts directly below it, and the remaining Kings around the King of Hearts, so it is surrounded.  Next, deal a column of four reserve cards face up on either side of the foundation area.

THE PLAY

The King of Hearts sits in the center of the foundation area and is not built upon.  Build up the other Kings by suit until the Queen sits on top of the pile.  Each foundation pile will contain the same suited K,A,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,J,Q.  Build the Ace of Hearts foundation pile by suit until the Queen sits on top of the pile as well.  When the game is won, the King of Hearts will be surrounded by all of the Queens.

Cards from the reserve are eligible for play on the foundations.  Fill spaces made in the reserve with the top card from the waste pile.  No waste pile?  Fill the space with the top card from the draw pile.  

To play, flip draw pile cards over one a time.  Draw pile cards are eligible to be played to the foundations only.  If it can’t be played on any available foundation, it goes on top of the waste pile face up.  Waste pile cards are always eligible for play on any available foundation pile.

Two redeals are allowed.  When the end of the draw pile is reached, and the game becomes blocked, turn the waste pile over and begin again.  If the game becomes blocked after the second redeal occurs, the player loses.

Build up all eightfoundation piles correctly to win the game.
