OBJECTIVE OF CAPTURE THE FLAG: The objective of Capture the Flag is to steal the opposing team’s flag, bringing it to your base. 

NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 4 or More Players 

MATERIALS: One Flag for Each Team   

TYPE OF GAME: Outdoor Game 

AUDIENCE: Ages 10 and Up 

OVERVIEW OF CAPTURE THE FLAG 

Capture the Flag is a classic outdoor game that never gets old. As the players break into teams, they must find a safe “base” where they will hide their flag. The teams will split up and attempt to capture their opponent’s flag without being tagged. If you are tagged, then only your teammates can help you. If you can steal the flag, then you can win the game.

SETUP 

To setup the game, simply split the players into teams. If there are more than 8 players, then it is good to split into more than two teams. Four people is the most on each team. The players will then find their base and plant their flag. At this point, the game is ready to begin.  

GAMEPLAY 

To play the game, the players will attempt to steal their opponent’s flag without getting tagged. They must also get the flag back to their base in order to win the game. If there are numerous teams, then they must attempt to steal more flags than any of the other teams.  

If the players are tagged, then they must stand still until one of their own teammates saves them. If your teammate touches you, then you are unfrozen, and you may continue the game.

END OF GAME 

The game comes to an end when the flags have been stolen. Once a team has collected all of the flags without them being taken back, then they win the game.
