OVERVIEW OF RED LIGHT, GREEN LIGHT

Red Light, Green Light is a classic outdoor game that forces everyone playing to pay close attention to their surroundings and the other players. Players must listen to who is playing the Stop Light, and if they move during a Red Light, and they are caught, then they lose all of their progress. Each player will move closer as quickly as they can during the Green Light in order to touch the Stop Light. This is the perfect game to play for a large group!

SETUP

To setup the game, the players will choose who will play the role of the Stop Light first. The Start line is chosen, and all of the other players will line up on the Start line. The Stop Light will step a certain distance away from the other players, and that distance can change depending on the other players. The game is then ready to begin.

GAMEPLAY

To begin the game, the Stop Light will turn their back, yelling “Green Light! “ aloud to the group. The other players will then rush as quickly, and carefully, towards the Stop Light from the Start line. At any point, the Stop Light may yell out “Red Light!” and turn towards the other players.

If the Stop Light sees someone move, then they may call them out, and they must return to the Start line. Once the Stop Light is ready, they may turn their back and the process continues. At any point, the Stop Light may trick the players by saying the wrong thing, forcing them to pay close attention.

END OF GAME

The game comes to an end when a player tags the Stop Light. They will be the winner of the game! If another game begins, then the player who tagged the Stop Light will become the new Stop Light.
