1. CATAN
- EXPLORE THE ISLAND OF CATAN: Settle the uninhabited island of Catan by gathering...
- STRATEGY AND COMPETITION: Compete with 2-3 opponents to expand your settlements...
- TRADE, BUILD, AND SETTLE: Use brick, wood, wheat, ore, and sheep to construct...
Few modern games have earned “must own” status quite like Settlers of Catan. The premise? You’re settlers on an island, collecting resources like wood, brick, and sheep to build roads, settlements, and cities. Trading with other players is half the fun (and half the drama, to be honest!) as everyone negotiates, bargains, and occasionally refuses to trade out of pure spite. It’s one of those games you may lose friendships over, but it’ll all be worth it. Catan is usually the game that turns casual players into full-blown board game fans (like us!).
2. EXPLODING KITTENS
- In this family card game, draw cards and try to avoid the dreaded Exploding...
- Designed for 2-5 players, ages 7 and up, Exploding Kittens is great for kids,...
- Compact for travel, portable for on-the-go, camping, game nights, road trips or...
If your group loves silly chaos, Exploding Kittens is an easy and super funny card game everyone will love. The rules are incredibly simple: draw cards, try not to draw an Exploding Kitten, and use all sorts of ridiculous cards to dodge, peek, or force others to take the risk for you. And if you do draw an Exploding Kitten card, make sure you have a Defuse card handy, or you’re out! Rounds fly by, so it’s one of those “just one more game” kind of experiences.

- After a secret night phase that includes changing roles, players have just 5...
- Includes a free iOS/Android app that makes playing incredibly engaging and...
Instead of a long social deduction campaign, One Night Ultimate Werewolf crams all the accusation and paranoia into a single lightning-fast round. Everyone gets a hidden role, the “night” phase shakes things up, and then you argue about who you think the werewolves are before voting. This game is ideal for groups that love bluffing and drama
4. SCRABBLE
- CLASSIC CROSSWORD GAME: Get family and friends together for a fun game night...
- WOODEN TILES AND RACKS: This edition of the Scrabble game features 100 wooden...
- RACK UP THE POINTS: Scrabble letters are worth points, and premium squares on...
Word lovers absolutely need Scrabble in their board game collection. You’ll build words crossword-style on the board, hunting for those perfect double- and triple-word score placements. And what makes the game all the more interesting is that sometimes, the best play isn’t the fanciest word but a sneaky two-letter drop that earns a pile of points! It’s a classic for a reason and works beautifully for everything from chill family afternoons to competitive game nights.
5. TICKET TO RIDE
- EXCITING TRAIN ADVENTURE: Embark on a journey across early 20th century North...
- EASY TO LEARN, HARD TO MASTER: With simple rules and engaging gameplay, Ticket...
- BEAUTIFUL GAME COMPONENTS: Features a giant map of the North American train...
In Ticket to Ride, you’re building train routes across the map, but the real tension comes from watching someone else inch toward “your” critical connection. Each turn, you either draw colored train cards or spend them to claim a route between cities, trying to quietly complete your destination tickets without being blocked. Great for 2–5 players who want something approachable but strategic, but this is one of our favorite 3-player games specifically.
6. CLUE

- SOLVE THE MYSTERY: Who killed Boddy Black? Collect clues and race to be the...
- 6 SUSPECTS, 1 MURDER: Play as Miss Scarlett, Colonel Mustard, Mayor Green, Chef...
Clue is the original “who did it?” board game and still delivers all these years later. You’ll wander through a mansion, making suggestions about suspects, weapons, and rooms while crossing off what you’ve seen on your notepad. Bit by bit, you narrow down the possibilities until someone is ready to make an accusation!
7. MONOPOLY
- FAST-DEALING PROPERTY TRADING GAME: It’s a Family Game Night staple! Players...
- BUY, SELL, AND TRADE TO WIN: Players compete to buy out neighborhoods, sell...
- BUILD HOUSES AND HOTELS: Love that feeling when an opponent lands on an owned...
Love it or hate it, you can’t deny it: Monopoly is iconic. And it earns a spot in most game cupboards. You buy properties, collect rent, and gradually build up houses and hotels until you either monopolize the whole game or become bankrupt. It’s not the fastest game on the list, but it’s pure nostalgia and still a hit with many families.
8. UNO
- UNO is the classic family card game that's easy to learn and so much fun to...
- In a race to deplete your hand, match one of your cards with the current card...
- Strategize to defeat your competition with special action cards like Skips,...
Uno is one of those games you can toss in a bag and bring literally anywhere. Players match colors or numbers to shed cards from their hand, using skips, reverses, draw 2s, and draw 4s to throw everyone else off. That moment when you smugly shout “UNO!” and then immediately get slammed with a Draw 4 is a rite of passage that may or may not end in tears.
9. CASCADIA
- Award Winner: Spiel des Jahres Game of the Year 2022. American Tabletop Award...
- Family-Friendly Fun: exciting strategy board game with family mode for new...
- Easy to Teach and Learn: elegantly simple gameplay, teach in 2 minutes, plays in...
Cascadia feels like a calm nature documentary turned into a puzzle. On your turn, you pick a habitat tile and an animal token, then place them to build out your personal landscape of forests, rivers, and mountains. Sounds pretty cute, right? Each animal type has its own scoring pattern, so you’re constantly juggling competing goals. This is a great game to play with smaller groups, even with just two players.
10. 7 WONDERS
- STRATEGY GAME: You are a leader of one of the seven greatest cities of the...
- BUILD YOUR CIVILIZATION: Players draft cards over multiple rounds, carefully...
- HOW TO WIN THIS GAME: At the end of each age, each player compares their...
If you often host slightly larger groups, 7 Wonders is a lifesaver. Everyone plays at the same time, drafting cards to build up their ancient civilization’s economy, science, military, and of course, a wonder of the world. Because turns happen at the same time, it scales well without dragging. And it can be quite chaotic in the meantime.
11. RUMMIKUB
- Now play Rummikub with even more players!
- It's easy to learn, but packed with strategy
- Players take turns placing numbered tiles in runs and groups rummy style
Rummikub is one of our favorite classic board games for those who love to play rummy card games. However, this must-have board game is in tile form. You’ll form runs and sets on the table, then slowly start rearranging everything to sneak your remaining tiles into play. A single clever move can completely change the board, which is very satisfying to say the least!
12. GUESS WHO?
Guess Who? is a pure, simple deduction game for two players. You choose a character, then your opponent asks yes/no questions to knock options down: “Do they have glasses?” “Are they wearing a hat?” The more specific you get, the riskier the question, so you’re always weighing how quickly to narrow things down. It’s a brilliant starter game for younger kids!

- INTRODUCTION TO STRATEGY: Experience the timeless allure of "Carcassonne," a...
- SIMPLE YET ENGAGING: With intuitive rules—place tiles, deploy meeples, score...
- BEAUTIFUL ILLUSTRATIONS: Immerse yourself in the game's enchanting world through...
Carcassonne is a tile-laying must-have board game where the board grows as you play. On your turn, you place a tile to extend roads, cities, fields, and monasteries, then decide whether to drop a meeple on it to claim the feature. The puzzle comes from squeezing tiles into just the right spots and timing when to commit your limited meeples. It’s an amazing “next step” board game after simpler family games for kids aged 7 and up. But it’s strategic enough that adults will fully enjoy this game too.
14. HERD MENTALITY
- EASY TO LEARN, QUICK TO PLAY – Flip over a question, guess what everyone else...
- PERFECT FOR BIG GROUPS – Great for 4 to 20 players! Whether it’s family,...
- EXPANSION PACK INCLUDED – This bundle includes the Herd Mentality Expansion...
Herd Mentality flips trivia on its head: the goal is not to be “right,” but to think like everyone else. Players answer simple questions, like favorite foods or holiday destinations, then reveal simultaneously. Match the majority, and you’re safe. But stand out, and you get the dreaded pink cow. Nooooo! It’s ridiculous, easy to learn, and perfect if you want a party game that gets people talking (and overthinking).

- Colorful Mancala Adventure: This mancala board game is a fantastic option for...
- Quick-Learn, Big Fun: This game is designed for children to grasp quickly and...
Mancala is one of those classic two-player board games that takes a minute to learn and a lifetime to master. You’ll scoop up stones from one pit and sow them around the board, trying to plan ahead so you end up capturing more than your opponent. The board looks minimal, but there’s a lot of depth in timing and move order to get the strategy right.

- RACE TO THE CASTLE: Players encounter all kinds of "delicious" surprises as they...
- NO READING REQUIRED TO PLAY: For kids ages 3 and up, Candy Land can be a great...
For very young kids, Candyland is often the first “real” board game they understand. Players draw cards and move along a candy-themed path, meeting characters and hoping to avoid the sticky setbacks. There’s no reading and no real strategy, so it’s all about the fun of moving your piece through a world that feels like a storybook.
17. OPERATION
- CLASSIC OPERATION GAMEPLAY: A favorite kids game for generations With the...
- SKILL AND COORDINATION: In this fun game for kids, players use skill and...
- COLLECT MOST MONEY TO WIN: Earn money for every successful removal of a Funatomy...
Operation turns a basic concept into a nerve-wracking event. The concept? Just pick things up without touching the sides. Sounds simple, right? You’ll use tweezers to extract silly plastic “organs” from the patient, trying not to set off the buzzing red nose. It’s goofy, but the tension of that tiny slip keeps everyone invested. This must-have board game is a hoot with kids and a great throwback for adults.
18. TABOO
- CLASSIC GAME OF UNSPEAKABLE FUN: Want a great party game that makes people...
- FOOD AND DRINK CARDS: This exclusive edition of the Taboo board game includes...
- TABOO GAME WITH ELECTRONIC BUZZER: If a player says a forbidden word on the...
Taboo is fantastic if your group enjoys frantic talking and lots of shouting. You’re trying to get your teammates to guess a word, but the most obvious related words are banned. Yikes. That means you’ll be describing “snow” without saying “cold,” “white,” or “winter,” which gets silly very quickly. It’s loud, fast, and a staple for bigger gatherings and parties.
19. AZUL
- CLASSIC GAME, PORTABLE FUN: Enjoy the beloved Azul tile-placement game in a...
- TILE-PLACEMENT STRATEGY: Compete for high scores by claiming and arranging tiles...
- OUTWIT YOUR RIVALS: Every tile you claim affects your opponents' choices; make...
One of our favorite strategy board games of all time, Azul almost feels like you’re doing crafty tilework, except with points and strategy involved, of course. You’ll draft colorful tiles from shared pools and place them in patterns on your personal board, aiming to complete rows and avoid overfilling. Every choice has consequences, especially when you’re forced to take extra tiles you can’t use. It’s a beautiful game that deserves a spot on your board game shelf.
20. THE CREW
- A follow-up to the Kennerspiel des Jahres winner, The Crew, with an underwater...
- The Crew: Mission Deep Sea has the same innovative cooperative twist on the...
- Work together to win the right tricks at the right time.
If your group knows classic trick-taking games like Hearts or Spades, The Crew is a brilliant twist. You’re working together to complete mission goals, like having a specific player win a particular card, but you can barely talk about what’s in your hand. That restriction turns simple card play into a clever puzzle you have to work together to solve. We highly recommend checking out this game if you haven’t already.
21. SPLENDOR
- ENGAGE IN STRATEGIC PLANNING: Splendor is a fast-paced, engine-building game...
- BUILD YOUR GEM EMPIRE: Collect gems, acquire developments, and attract noble...
- SIMPLE YET DEEP GAMEPLAY: Perfect for both beginners and seasoned gamers,...

22. TERRAFORMING MARS

- English (Publication Language)
One of the most exciting board games to play when you’re bored or alone is Terraforming Mars. In this game, players are corporations investing in huge projects to make Mars habitable, raising the temperature, adding oceans, and boosting oxygen levels to do it. You’ll build an engine of cards and resources that let you do more and more impressive things each generation. It’s a task and a pretty heavy board game, but a very popular one for a reason!

- ♕ HANDCRAFTED CHESS PIECES: Every Staunton chess piece is made of light but...

When people say “pure strategy game,” they’re probably thinking of chess. Two players face off with identical armies, trying to outmaneuver each other and trap the opponent’s king. There’s no luck, no hidden information. Just tactics and long-term planning. It’s absolutely worth having a nice chess set around, even if you only play casually.

This is a classic rainy-day game that never quite goes out of style.

This is a great introduction to cooperative board games!

Codenames is what happens when word association meets spy drama. The spymaster gives a single-word clue plus a number, and their team tries to guess which words on the table they mean without accidentally picking the other team’s agents or the assassin. It’s all about thinking the way your friends think, which leads to some hilarious leaps.

Players place armies on a world map, then roll dice to battle for territories and grow their empires. Temporary alliances, sudden betrayals, and big swingy battles are all part of the experience. Expect some tears, laughter, and a lot of frustration with this one! This board game is definitely on the longer side, but for the right group, that’s half the fun.

Each player controls a unique spirit with different powers, and together you push back invading colonists. It’s one of the heavier co-op games out there, but incredibly rewarding for groups who like strategy.
